Question 1

What should I feed my pet daily?

Accepted Answer

Dr. Pradeep suggests that it is best that your pet feeds on fresh home cooked food as it is more natural, easily digestible and not loaded with preservatives. Dogs love boiled rice with dal, chicken or vegetables, which is a simple meal. Commercial pet food is a supplement, or for convenience, but should not be fed as the sole food item. Try to avoid feeding onions, garlic, grapes, chocolate or spicy food as these can be poisonous to pets. Diet plan tailored to species, age, breed and weight of your pet is given during consultation.

Question 2

How often should I deworm my pet?

Accepted Answer

Deworming of puppies and kittens should be done every 2 weeks until 3 months old and monthly until 6 months old. Adult dogs and cats should be dewormed every 3 months. Deworming is done routinely to keep your pet and family safe. Specific parasites are best tested using a stool test once a year.

Question 3

What vaccinations does my pet need and when?

Accepted Answer

Core vaccines for dogs consist of Distemper, Parvovirus, Hepatitis and Rabies. For cats — Feline Panleukopenia, Calicivirus and Rabies. Vaccines have been approved for use starting at 6-8 weeks of age and then again every 3-4 weeks through 16 weeks of age, and once a year after that. Dr. Pradeep will make a vaccination record and reminder schedule for your pet.
